SCENE 1
EXT. RURAL BACK ROAD – LATE AFTERNOON – LOW ANGLE SHOT
The Crown Vic’s rear axle groans as it settles deeper into the gravel shoulder. Back tire coughing rubber into the wheel well. Rust lights a cigarette with a flick that’s just a bit too dramatic.
ANGLE ON TRUNK
Rust stares down at the hollow trunk. No tools. No spare. Just an oily rag and a folded traffic cone that looks like it’s given up.
“This isn’t an accident,” Rust says. “Entropy was always the driver. We’re just passengers pretending we ever had a say.”
Speaking half to himself.
"Of course. No spare. Time flattens everything—tires, memories, options. You ride long enough, you end up here. Broken down, badge cracking in your wallet, sun chewing your soul from the outside in."
ANGLE – MARTY STANDING BEHIND, WIPING HIS FACE WITH HIS TIE
