Our Origin Story Part I: Painted Faces and Neon Shoestrings

Flying Elbow's premise is reliving past memories of professional wrestling and creating swag to showcase that nostalgic connection. Here is our origin story.

It's 1987 one afternoon in Florida...

The tv in the living room was turned to TBS...

At 7 years old I wasn't sure exactly what wrestling was but it sure was interesting. Dudes getting body slammed and performing acrobatic stunts.. Cool!

Looking for a bag of chips in the kitchen, I wasn't totally engaged in the show until I heard a loud yell and the announcers getting riled up over something. Running back to the living room saw a surfer looking guy with colorful face paint whipping the behinds of his opponents. He made short work of them as he came to the aid of another wrestler.

"What a hero" I thought to myself.

Into the ropes, here comes the Stinger Splash the announcers commented.

My eyes wide.

I proclaimed, "Stinger Splash?! He jumped almost 100 feet in the air on that guy!"

And that was it. Just like that a wrestling fan was born.

I had no idea what time the show would be on again, or when I would see this amazing wrestling superstar Sting but I knew I would be checking the channels every day after school from then on out...
